The US Forest Service – Cordova Ranger District has several lovely cabins throughout the world’s richest waters of the Copper River Delta and Prince William Sound area. Full a full list of these, click the button below. Here, we will list the cabins you can access by car and hiking trail in Cordova.

 

A 12 x 20-foot cabin with loft and an 8 x 12-foot covered porch is located 11 miles northeast of Cordova. Accessible via a 4.2 mile hike starting at the signed trailhead at the end of Power Creek road, 7 miles NE of Cordova. Refer to USGS map, Cordova C5. Sleeps 8, table, wood stove, water. A 12×14 foot rustic log cabin located 80 yards northeast of the Copper River Highway on the McKinley Lake Trail at 21 mile Copper River Highway. Accessible via motor vehicle. Sleeps 6, table, woodstove, large covered porch with bench, picnic table, outhouse. Reserve this USFS cabin at recreation.gov

A 16 x 20-foot insulated cabin located on the northwest shore of the lake near McKinley Lake Trail. Accessible via: 2.4 mile hike starting at signed trailhead at mile 21, Copper River Highway; or floatplane (10 minutes from Cordova); or via boat or canoe up Alaganik Slough (mile 22 CRH) to McKinley Lake (2 miles). Sleeps 6, table, woodstove, rainwater catchment, ax, splitting maul, outhouse. Reserve this USFS cabin at recreation.gov

Skater’s Cabin recreation site is operated by the a City of Corova and located at 2210 Power Creek Road on the Eyak Lake shoreline. While the cabin was recently removed for reconstruction, outside the cabin is a beach area with a picnic table, fire pit and BBQ. There is an outhouse located off to the side of the cabin for your convenience. Visit www.cityofcordova.net/camping for more info and to reserve.

Usage: year round Rates 3 day max rental: One day stay = $25, Two day stay = $60, Three day stay = $110. There is a  $35 cleaning deposit (clean up by user required; cleaning deposit is refundable). Payment can be accepted in cash or with a check written to The City of Cordova or online via credit card. The rental fee and the deposit fee will be need to be separate payments as your deposit is generally refunded when the key is turned back into the office. The Hidden Valley public use cabin on Ski Hill was constructed by the Sheridan Alpine Association in 2018. The cabin sleeps 4 to 6 persons. It is insulated for all season use and heated with a wood stove. Wood is provided. The cabin measures 16’x 20’. A covered deck keeps you and your gear dry during inclement weather. The site also includes a outhouse and outside fire pit. Potable water is not available at the site.

A 20 minute hike from the base area up a moderate incline will deliver great views and solitude. The hike is moderate, somewhat steep, so some level of fitness is required.  Kids generally do great. Transport by snowcat in the winter and 4-wheeler in the summer can be arranged for an additional fee when booking.
