Copper River Delta Shorebird Festival | Print |  E-mail

Greetings bird lovers! This is the official home page for the annual Copper River Delta Shorebird Festival, held each year in beautiful Cordova, Alaska. In early May, the tidal flats of the Copper River Delta shimmer with the activity of hundreds of thousands of shorebirds. As many as 5 million shorebirds rest and feed here during spring migration. The Copper River Delta Shorebird Festival provides the ideal opportunity for bird watchers to be part of this epic migration. Many activities, workshops and community events are offered throughout the festival. We invite you to join us in Cordova for the premier birding event of the new millenium.

The 23rd Annual Copper River Delta Shorebird Festival, May 2-5, 2013, will continue to include environmental education as well as showing our visitors the beauty and grandeur of Prince William Sound and the Copper River Delta. Our Keynote Speaker this year is Mr. Guido Berguido from the Panama Audubon Society. Other Audubon speakers include Nils Warnock and Melanie Smith from the Alaska Audubon Society.

Cooperation and collaboration between the Chamber of Commerce, the U.S. Forest Service-Cordova Ranger District, the Prince William Sound Science Center and many of our local service oriented businesses help insure the Copper River Delta Shorebird Festival is successful year after year.

Each Copper River Delta Shorebird Festival also owes a great deal of our success to those companies who have supported us through the years. Their generous donations help us in so many important ways; bringing credible speakers to Cordova, providing field-trip transportation for our visitors, making it possible to offer quality education programs and covering the everyday expenses associated with presenting a superior Festival.
