May 24, 2021 (Cordova, Alaska) – Cordova Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce a new vaccination incentive program in Cordova, made possible by a grant from Alaska Chamber and the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services.
With this $20,000 grant, Cordova Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of Cordova, has launched a Cordova VaxCash Raffle using the same Cordova Cash Card platform through which Cordova residents received their local stimulus payment in 2020. A new series of these local gift cards will be loaded with amounts ranging from $500-$5,000, and any adult in Cordova who has been fully vaccinated can enter to win one. Winners must present their vaccination card in person to Cordova Chamber of Commerce to claim their prize.
Realizing that some citizens still have questions or concerns about vaccination, the Chamber also offered a Physicians Roundtable Q&A on June 18th at 12:00pm via Zoom. Visit cordovachamber.com/events/roundtable for more info.
Anyone physically present in Cordova, 18 years or older, who is fully vaccinated is eligible and encouraged to sign up now to win up to $5,000 in Cordova Cash cards by clicking the button below. For those ready to get vaccinated now, Cordova medical facilities have vaccines available for anyone aged twelve and older, and appointments can be scheduled easily by calling 424-3045.
Cordova Chamber of Commerce and the Alaska Chamber firmly believe that in order to get our economy fully back on track, we need to increase our vaccination rates so that businesses can focus more on their operations and less on lost time and revenue due to exposures, illness, mandates, etc. We also expect an influx of independent travelers to Alaska this summer, many of whom may be coming from places where the vaccine is not yet available. We want to be able to keep our businesses open and safely host these travelers while protecting each other. According to the most recent data, about 50% of Alaskans have been vaccinated. Another 30% plan to get vaccinated, but are awaiting more information, haven’t made the time, or just haven’t been motivated to go do it yet. The final 20% have no intention of getting vaccinated. Our hope is to encourage that 30% who are considering vaccination to take this step that promotes health in our businesses and community.

There will be two separate raffle drawings held for this program. For each drawing, all applicants will be available. Limit one prize per registrant. Limit one registration per person. Drawing dates are as follows:

In order to claim a prize, winners must physically present their official vaccination card (showing they are fully vaccinated for COVID-19) in person at the Cordova Chamber of Commerce during business hours (or by appointment) within 10 days of the raffle drawing. If you do not, you will forfeit your prize. Winners will be notified within 48 hours of the drawing using the contact methods included in their registration. Individuals do NOT need to re-enter in order to be eligible for the second drawing on September 10th. All registrants who were not drawn on July 16th will be automatically entered for the September 10th drawing.
